Tornado Threat Highest Tomorrow

The flood event that has been predicted for several days has begun in Southwest North Texas. Even at this early hour the flash flooding situation has become quite severe with reports of boats being required to evacuate residents from their homes. Unfortunately that part of the event has just begun as convection overnight will continue to intensify as is normally the case with tropical cyclones and warm-core systems. Also of note is the Tornado Warning in effect for Hamilton County until 11:15 PM. Isolated Tornadoes remain possible overnight close to the center of circulation.

Chase Update

For the forecast discussion regarding today and tomorrow please check the second post.

A tornado watch has been posted for Johnson and Ellis counties south and east. The first of several strong tropical bands from Hermine are approaching the metroplex now. They will most likely have some epic shelf clouds and will be rotating, as will any shower. It will take some instability to get that rotation to form into a surface based circulation (a.k.a tornado) but there should be some isolated tornadoes beginning this afternoon into tomorrow. I’ll be out at various times as convection approaches. I’ve put the site into chase mode as of now.
