Around 9 PM on Saturday evening, there was a bright flash in the clear, Texas sky. A meteorite is the likely cause, and it was seen across most of the state, including reports from southern Oklahoma. To view the reports, click the link below:
It is not rare for the Earth to be hit with meteorites. This time around, all signs point to debris from the Comet ISON, which is expected to break apart as it hurls towards the sun. Below is a link to a video from Space.com about the comet.
