Good evening from a cold, dark January evening here in North Texas!
Since our last storm chase back on December 31st and our little winter storm last weekend, things have remained very calm in Texas weather. Generally, we’ve experienced temperatures well below average but no storm systems have been able to turn that into wintry mischief. This down time has allowed us to get a few things done we’ve been working on since last season’s conclusion.
The first major improvement we’re happy to announce is our soon to be released Android app! We’re working with a professional to develop a quality app that will allow you to monitor us from your phone! This will include our current chase status, latest blog posts, social media updates, and of course, you’ll be able to watch our live stream directly from your phone via a one click solution in the app! At this point, we’re looking for any suggestions you may have to make our application better. If you have any suggestions (and we do mean any…) please take a moment to let us know via the comment form below. We would really appreciate it, and considering this app is for you, we want to hear what you want!
Our second improvement has to do with the website’s comment system. I’m sure many of you are wondering what I’m talking about, since you may not know we have a feedback system on every post we create. Guess what? WE DO! We’ve just spent a few hours investing in a system that should weed out a majority, if not every spambot’s garbage they try to post. So from now on, our posts should be nice and tidy, waiting for your feedback!
These are only a few of the changes we’re making before the spring severe weather season starts up. Stay tuned for more!
Good evening!
For the past several months, Connor and I have been planning for several items and features to be released this fall/winter. For those who don’t know, our season doesn’t end when spring concludes. North Texas and Oklahoma have a secondary severe weather season that lasts from late September all the way through, in some cases, next spring. In addition to severe weather, we also go out for winter weather events. For those reasons we have upgraded some of our side of the system with new features that make it easier for you, the viewer, to enjoy the experience from home.
The first and primary reason for this email is to announce the opening of the Texas Storm Chasers Online Shop. We’ve discussed among ourselves for several weeks what we would sell, and how we could make it so the shirt would be worth buying. We decided to offer two different designs for sale. The first design is of a T-Shirt with the text “Don’t wish us good luck in your town…” on the back. The second design is just our name ‘Texas Storm Chasers’ on the front and back of the shirt. Each shirt sells for $20 with the hooded sweatshirt selling for $40. The reason we decided to start offering items is to help recuperate some of the technological/equipment expenses. It takes over one thousand dollars to bring you live streaming video on chases and to keep our website online. If you have any apparel items you would like to see, just send us an email at shop@texasstormchasers.com or send us a message to one of the social network accounts.
We’re also pleased to announce that our first DVD is nearing completion. The DVD will feature footage from our first chases in 2008 all the way up to the September 8th Tornado west of Gainesville, Texas. Also included with this DVD is never before seen footage from April 24, 2010! Some of our footage was aired on national media networks following the event, but we found footage that rivals the original footage. We’ve chosen to release this footage as a highlight of our DVD. Some of our fans may be an expert in weather, that’s ok! For each chase featured on our upcoming DVD we have included a two to four minute weather briefing to give you the details of what was coming together. Much more will be announced soon regarding the release date and specific chases, but we expect it to be no later than early November.
Thanks for stopping by!
Good Afternoon,
I’ve finally gotten all of our videos on the May 19th chase page. With this update you can view two videos of the Wyneewood, OK tornado with each showing a different aspect due to camera settings. Also included in this update is video of the now long tracked tornado after dark being illuminated by power flashes. Although this video has been on our YouTube account for several weeks I’m now just adding it to the chase page. In addition to those videos be sure to check out over 100 high quality photos taken that day. We’ve just started to offer high quality prints on those as well!
You can view all of the new additions on our May 19th chase page.
Good Morning,
I’ve spent most of the night getting chase logs updated and uploaded. So far I’ve gotten a very detailed chase page up for our Iowa chase on August 13th along with another local chase yesterday August 15th. A pretty sweet time-lapse video from yesterday just finished uploading and is available on the August 15th chase page. A couple of screen grabs from the 13th are available with the video coming sometime in the next few days hopefully.
With the fall semester starting up Connor will be moving up to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma this fall. I decided to take a year and get the basic courses out of the way here at a local community college. I’m sure there will be many interesting fall chases from both of us once the season starts up. Anyway that’s all for now, thanks for stopping by!

As you can see on the bar at the top of the page, we have now opened up the Texas Storm Chasers photo gallery! Feel free to stop by and look around at some the the photos we have taken over the past few years, and if you really like them, simply order a print or a digital download! Enjoy!
